GERMAN VOCABULARY

German has an analytical vocabulary; most words can be divided in roots which are used again in other words. In fact, many abstract words found in English, Russian and French are built in the same way. Nowadays, the German vocabulary is formed by 45,000 words.

There are some remarkably functional words in German language. For example Schlag and Zug, in German dictionary there are three-quarters of a column of Schlags, and a column and a half of Zugs.
