Frankfurt is situated in the middle of the Rhine-Main region, one of the most productive regions in Germany. The city is divided by the River main in two: in the north you can find the financial centre filled with many skyscrapers and in the south are Frankfurt’s main museums, galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Frankfurt is a relatively small city and the most important historic sights are in the Old Town “Altstadt”. A popular meeting point for tourists is the Römemberg area, in the past it was the place of all kinds of celebrations like the coronation of the Holy Roman Emperors, during the war it was partially destroyed and years later it was repaired. Other popular area is the Sachsenhausen there you can find old cider pubs that serve the delicious apple wine.

The Römer, also known as the Town Hall, is a famous historic building that is formed by three different structures with a gothic style. The Saint Bartholomeus’ Cathedral is the city’s main church, it reflects the gothic style of Merovingian times; other important historic building is the Saint Paul’s Church that is the symbol for freedom and democracy in Germany.
The Goethe house, residence of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe the greatest writer in the German language, is other favorite place for tourists that provides a glance of middle class life in the 18th century. The house contains paintings collected by Goethe’s father, furniture (just a part is original) and other possessions of his family. Close to the house is the Goethe-museum with an extensive library and thousands of Goethe manuscripts.
Frankfurt has also a lot of cool places for young people like art centers, rock clubs with many parties and musical events.
